Steven George Gerrard Was born on the 30th of May 1980 in Whiston, Merseyside, England he started his youth career at Liverpool at the age of 9 and played at youth level for 11 years.
Gerrard started playing with his local team Whiston Rovers where he was noticed by Liverpool scouts .Gerrard had trials at a variety of different clubs at the age of 14. He never made it into the England schoolboy’s team but was asked to trial for Manchester United but turned them down to play for the Liverpool academy.
He made his first appearance for the Liverpool first team as a substitute against Blackburn in 1998 coming on for Vegard Heegem. He went on to make 13 appearances in what was his debut season.
Gerrard then went on to partner Redknap in the heart of the midfield. In the 1999 season he started the derby against Everton on the bench. He replaced Robbie Fowler in the second half and received his first red card after a challenge on Kevin Campbell. As the season progressed he scored his first goal against Sheffield Wednesday in a 4-1 win he then began to suffer from nagging back problems because of accelerated growth.
Gerrard is the only player to the score in the Champions League final, Uefa final, League cup final and FA cup final. He has captained both club and country and has over 500 appearances for Liverpool. He scored the winning goal against Olimpiakos to send them through to the next round and the goal that sparked Liverpool’s fight back against AC Milan in the historic penalty shootout win in the champion’s league final. He has also won PFA and worlds best player along with having the goal of the season. He also pushed Liverpool to their best premier league finish ever as Liverpool finish second just behind Manchester United in the 2008-2009 season.
